Taiwan Chinglish?

Hello, coming at you from Taipei, Taiwan. I always love visiting here.

Unfortunately though, Taiwan is low on Chinglish. Only one I found is this and it’s even supposed to be artistic:

And here are a couple of others from back in SZ

More on Taiwan later, stay tuned…

Chengdu Chinglish

Always on the lookout when I’m traveling, you should know already that I recently visited Beijing and Chengdu on a very fruitful trip.

It’s always interesting to discover Chinglish in a new city. Last week I shared Beijing, this week you can see some interesting pics I uncovered in the lovely city of Chengdu, including flowery poetry and randomness at the airport:

Enjoy!

Beijing Chinglish

Hello readers,

My tour continues in Beijing and beyond to Chengdu, and more on that soon enough. (And more on the security situation in Beijing, on a serious note…)

But first, via Instagram, some Chinglish in Beijing. Including disgusting meat. And a just plain weird candy.

Without further ado:

A couple of Chinglishes to tide you over

In these dark times, we must take what we can get to cheer us up 🙂

From a hike in Meilin, and a Snoopy-ish shirt:

(In other news, I finally saw the Peanuts movie and twasn’t bad…)

Chinglish 2016

Not much Chinglish to occupy my eye these days, but I do have a few to start off 2016 while it’s still January:

While I’m at it, here’s some more funny China stuff in the form of bootleg Star Wars toys! Followed by my own small Lego Star Wars collection, and you can guess which ones are fakes…

Guangzhou – Reading & Chinglish

In light of so much interesting content last week, I have decided to combine an update of my book promotions with Chinglish, as well as a video below. Hope this makes for a doubly entertaining read.

Last weekend we went to Guangzhou, and enjoyed Yuexiu Park. Though there was lots of uphill walking, it’s nice to see pagodas and the beautiful nature settings. Paddleboating was most fun indeed.

And so many Chinglish signs. Glad to see that they haven’t changed the place in years 🙂

Later, it was a treat to discover this awesomely named dim sum restaurant. Delicious and PRO!!!

Finally, Saturday night I came to read ma’ book at the awesome Open Mic event at one dimly-lit hip art bar Loft345…

Always nervous to do these sorts of things, it’s even worse to record and hear myself. Do I really sound like that? Well, I did my best and that’s all that can be done; seems to work out most of the time.

The Chinglish of Meilin

Sometimes I like to the Meilin neighborhood of Shenzhen. It’s a bit of a halfway point between downtown and the suburban districts, and the vibe is just nice enough outside of the central urban areas. Check it out if you ever visit.

Anyway, recently I happened upon a trove of glorious Chinglish signs in an apartment complex within the area. There were more than these, but I had to stop taking pictures at a certain point. The themes of law-abiding were heavy in this scene…

(And do note my Instagram.) Enjoy:

Chinglish’agram

Here are some more Chinglish pics, previously seen on Instagram. Among others we have various signs, a lonely road, fries, a funny hat, and at the end a mythical guy I have always searched for and finally found: A Chinese gentleman with a cheesy English tattoo. The irony, get it?

Instagram – Chinglish

In order to make posting easier, I’m simply going to share some Chinglish and random China pics from my Instagram account. Hey, now that I think about it, that’s not a bad idea.

I’m not that big on Instagram, but feel free to add me to see what pictures I feel like sharing next…

Weekend Chinglish Part II

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Enjoy moon cakes, whether they have nuts or egg yolk (well, I suspect you may not really enjoy the egg yolk flavor…)

I’m actually not in China right now. I’m in South Africa, if you can believe that. So busy. No time to get into that now. Later an epic post on all I’ve seen here.

For now here’s the beginnings of a motherload of Chinglish I found at a garden in Meilin, Shenzhen. So many signs. Take a peak–

Weekend Chinglish Part I

It’s been a while and the Chinglish has been packing up!

This weekend, not much but a bit of a multi-part super post…

Mid-week Chinglish!

Sorry folks, been busy lately. No Weekend Chinglish, no articles or biographical blogs, but feast your eyes on this to get you through the week:

Biweekly Chinglish

Hello all you Chinglish lovers, sorry for the wait.

What would you say to a biweekly Chinglish, every-other-weekend…? Just thoughts

Note the T-shirts, sign I possibly posted before, beware of lost, and a guy who must absolutely love his job :/

Please let me add something that didn’t work, but oh how funny it would be if it did.

I was walking down the street the other day, and suddenly beheld a lady wearing a shirt that loudly proclaimed PERVERT. It was amazing.

I tried to take a picture. Perhaps I should have asked her if I could take a pic, but I get shy about that sometimes. Ultimately, I missed the mark. Would have been so funny.

Makes one wonder what could have been… And where the hell these shirts come from?

Hainan Chinglish

On my recent trip to the tropical Hainan island/province, specifically the cities of Haikou and Wenchang, I came across this T-shirt for sale:

wpid-20150702_160029.jpg

Which is the only particularly funny part.

Here’s a Tompie sign misspelled:

And the other day back in Shenzhen a guy with a shirt that loudly states: FUCK among other illegibles. Gotta love those shirts.
